A college level study of vector (multivariable) calculus which includes polar coordinates, analysis of vector-valued functions, analysis of functions of several variables, multiple integrals, and analysis of vector fields. This course emphasizes computational techniques, geometry, theoretical structure, and creative problem solving. Upon successful completion of the course, the student will receive 4 credit hours from the Central Virginia Community College.
Textbook: Calculus, by Larson, Hostetler, and Edwards (4th edition). We will also use software packages and graphing calculators.
Tentative Test dates: Test 1, Feb 9; Test 2, Mar 23.
13.1 – 13.5 Vector-valued functions and their calculus
14.1 – 14.10 Functions of several variables and their differential calculus
15.1 – 15.7 Integral calculus for functions of several variables
16.1 – 16.4 Functions whose domains and ranges are multivariable and their calculus

2 Midterm tests 20 % each

Semester Exam 30 %
Grading is on a 10-point scale.
Nine-week grades should be viewed as progress reports for the entire semester.
